2015 Product Roadmap, Responsive Themes, Building Your Membership Knowledge Base and More
Wild Apricot Update January 2015: New Year – New Features and Resources
by Shiv Narayanan, Magnetic Apricot (Head of Marketing and Sales)
In this month’s Wild Apricot Update, in thinking about what our theme for the year might be (see the related blog post below), we suggest that, at least for the first quarter of 2015, responsive might be appropriate.
The Wild Apricot Update outlines the details about our recently released responsive website theme sets. But the update is about more than just responsive design. We have listened to our customers – through your emails, calls and in our Small Membership Advisory Community and Expert Webinar sessions. We’ve heard your challenges in managing and growing your membership organizations. And in response, we’re making product enhancements, improving our technical support, and building a range of information and resources to help you – individually and as organizations – build your own knowledge base so you can better serve your mission.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this webinar was postponed from January 21st, 2015 to February 5th, 2015
We hear from many volunteers and staff at small membership organizations that they are having difficulty “dealing with their board”. They need to “get things done” but board inefficiency is getting in the way.
This webinar will give you tools for improving your meetings so that you can:
- Conduct more efficient and effective board meetings
- Create meetings that build broader commitment to decisions
- Achieve broader engagement and follow-up
Are your membership events in dire need of creativity, innovation and reinvention?
Jeff Hurt believes most events have been stuck in an ancient, out-dated rut for too long. To be successful, he suggests “you need to shake things up and change what happens inside of your events. Rethink our event experience.”
In this one-hour webinar, Jeff will help you discover some compelling conversations around six big disruptive conference changes and their hacks.
Jeff Hurt is Executive Vice President, Education and Engagement at Velvet Chainsaw Consulting.

Small Membership Advisory Community - Next Session
Our Small Membership Advisory Community is a welcoming space where volunteers, staff and board members can connect, share stories and learn from each other about key topics and challenges facing their organization.
This next Community Advisory session follows hot on the heels of our expert webinar with Dr. Rick Lent on Tools for More Effective and Efficient Board Meetings. We want to hear from you and share strategies, tools and real life best practices and challenges in running more effective board meetings.
Topics for discussion will include:
- What tactics do you use to keep board members engaged?
- How do you manage follow-up tasks?
- What helps you keep meetings on track?
- How do you achieve a group consensus?

To help you kick-start the New Year, we offered a link round-up of Trends and Predictions for 2015, as well as a New Year Planning Resource Round-up. But before you finalize your organization’s plans for 2015, take time to look back over 2014. What worked, what didn't? What lessons have you learned that you can put into practice for the coming year?
Every month we receive hundreds of surveys from our clients. We read each and every one - and reply to comments. Here's a small selection of customer comments from our surveys last month.
